The citation traced back to a Reddit thread from 14 months earlier. A clinical director at the facility had answered a family member’s question on a non-recovery subreddit.
The response was substantive, value-first, posted from an account that signed off with her name and facility. ChatGPT had pulled three sentences from that 14-month-old comment into the answer card.
That single Reddit comment has produced more downstream AI citation share for the facility than three months of their on-site content marketing.
This is happening across categories. Reddit is the most-cited domain in AI search by a wide margin, accounting for roughly 40 percent of all LLM citations across major engines per a June 2025 Semrush analysis.
