TL;DR

The Short Version

The Problem
  • A site that had degraded for years through staff turnover, with all content buried in theme files no one could edit
  • Organic traffic flatlined at 92 monthly visits with no structured data and zero AI Overview visibility
  • A five-click booking flow, broken internal links, and conversion tracking so limited the admissions team could not attribute a single lead to source
The Strategy
  • Full site rebuild from scratch on a Gutenberg-native custom template built by the SEO Director personally
  • Clinical entity-first content strategy built around Reconnect's actual specialties: trauma, EMDR, sensorimotor psychotherapy, DID, and complex PTSD
  • AI Overview optimization with full E-E-A-T authority network tying every piece of content back to a credentialed clinician
The Result
  • Traffic tripled in six weeks, from 92 to 279 monthly visits with the curve still climbing
  • 21 position-#1 Google AI Overview citations across seven clinical clusters including the #1 spot on a 7,400-volume term
  • IOP generating steady, consistent lead flow through organic search with no paid spend behind it
The Challenge

A Site That Got Worse Every Year and a Founder Who Knew It

Reconnect Center is a trauma therapy practice founded by Dr. Karol Darsa, specializing in EMDR, sensorimotor psychotherapy, and somatic experiencing. When Webserv took over the account, the website had degraded through years of staff turnover and inconsistent management. Dr. Darsa was direct about it: the site had gotten worse and worse over the years and she could not explain how. The design made her nauseous.

The problem ran deeper than aesthetics. The site was built on Elementor with all content buried in theme files, making pages nearly impossible to edit or optimize. Broken internal links, no structured data, and a booking flow that required five clicks to complete an appointment were driving potential clients away before they reached the intake team. Organic traffic had flatlined at 92 monthly visits with zero visibility in the AI-powered search features that were already reshaping how people find behavioral health providers.

Conversion tracking was so limited the admissions team could not tell whether a lead had come through the website at all. The client knew things needed to change. Tal, Dr. Darsa's son, had even attempted a rebuild himself using AI tools, producing a beautiful design that unfortunately could not support SEO: the content was locked in theme files, pages were not editable, and the output was an 8GB WordPress file with no content management layer. The intent was right. The execution needed a different approach.

Core Problems
๐Ÿ”ฒ
Unsalvageable ArchitectureAn 8GB Elementor site with content buried in theme files. No amount of optimization could fix what the structure was suppressing.
๐Ÿ“‹
Zero AI Overview PresenceNo structured data, no E-E-A-T signals, no content formatted for the AI-generated results that were already capturing clicks in behavioral health.
๐Ÿ’ธ
Invisible to Clinical SearchA DR 21 site with no topical authority strategy. Flatlined at 92 visits per month with no clear path to growth under the existing structure.
๐Ÿฅ
No Admission AttributionTracking was so limited the admissions team could not tell whether a single lead had come through the website, making optimization impossible.
In Her Own Words

"I actually think our website got worse and worse and worse over the years. I don't know how that happened. That website makes me nauseous."

Dr. Karol Darsa, Founder, Reconnect Center
Starting Point
92 monthly organic visits
Flatlined for months with no growth trajectory
Zero AI Overview visibility
Across all clinical specialties and modalities
No conversion tracking
Admissions team could not attribute leads to source
Content locked in theme files
Making pages impossible to edit or optimize
Five-click booking flow
Creating friction before users ever reached intake
Our Strategy

The Rebuild Was the Strategy.

There was no slow-compounding SEO path available on the existing site. The architecture was the problem. Fix the architecture, and every other piece of work gets to perform the way it should.

01
Full site rebuild from scratch, done personally by the SEO Director
Not Elementor. Not a page builder. A Gutenberg-native WordPress site on a custom template where every element has a purpose. Programs connect to services, services connect to modalities, clinician credentials surface where they matter most. Built on custom post types so the site scales as Reconnect does: when they add a service line, expand into a new modality, or begin treating new populations, content slots into the right place in the hierarchy automatically. The entire legacy URL map was redirected to preserve equity. The rebuild launched on April 29 with 102 indexable pages, zero schema errors, and zero orphan pages.
02
Clinical entity-first content built around what Reconnect actually treats
Rather than chasing volume keywords, the content strategy was anchored to Reconnect's real clinical specialties: trauma, EMDR, sensorimotor psychotherapy, DID, complex PTSD, and somatic therapy. Each content cluster was designed to establish topical authority that Google's AI systems would recognize and cite. Every piece was built around verified search demand with zero-volume terms excluded, and each article links strategically to the service pages that convert.
03
E-E-A-T authority network built to earn AI Overview citations
Structured data deployed across the full site: Organization, LocalBusiness, MedicalBusiness, FAQPage, and Article schema. Every service page carries a Medically Reviewed By byline. Every blog post shows the author's name, title, and bio, linking to their team member page. Those team member pages connect to the specific programs and services that clinician treats. The result is an authority network Google's AI can trace: any piece of content links back to a real credentialed clinician, with the site structure proving their expertise. That's what AI needs to confidently cite a source.
What We Did

Execution Across Every Layer

Site Rebuild and Technical Foundation
  • Launched 102-page Gutenberg-native site on April 29 with zero orphan pages and zero schema validation errors
  • Built on custom post types so programs, services, modalities, and clinician profiles connect structurally
  • Mapped and redirected every legacy URL to preserve existing equity
  • Overhauled booking flow from five clicks to a streamlined path the admissions team could track
  • Implemented conversion tracking so every lead can now be attributed to source
Content Strategy and Clinical Authority
  • Published trauma-focused content targeting verified search demand across childhood trauma, complex PTSD, DID, and somatic modalities
  • Every article built around real keyword data with zero-volume terms excluded
  • Each piece links strategically to the service and program pages that convert
  • Quarterly refreshes on key service and treatment pages to maintain indexing momentum
AI Overview and E-E-A-T Optimization
  • Deployed Organization, LocalBusiness, MedicalBusiness, FAQPage, and Article schema across the full site
  • Medically Reviewed By bylines on every service page, author bios on every post
  • Author profiles link to team pages, team pages link to programs and services that clinician treats
  • Content aligned to the sub-query patterns AI systems use when generating overviews for trauma therapy searches
Ongoing SEO and Performance Management
  • Shifted from month-to-month tactics to quarterly strategy with biweekly check-ins
  • Proactive technical audits, plugin updates, and malware monitoring
  • Transparent reporting and structured QBR cadence so the client always knows what is being worked on and why
  • Conversion tracking improvements running in parallel so admissions can attribute leads to source

Why This Worked

What Made the Difference

01
The Rebuild Was the Strategy
This was not a case where SEO slowly compounded over 12 months. The rebuild itself was the catalyst. The old site was a tangle of legacy pages, broken structure, and content no one could touch. The new site was intentional down to every internal link. The moment that architecture went live, every piece of content started performing. Six weeks from launch to 3x traffic.
02
AI Overviews as a First-Class Channel
Most agencies are still reporting on traditional rankings while AI Overviews quietly capture the clicks. We built Reconnect's content specifically to earn citations in AI-generated results. The outcome: 21 position-#1 AI Overview citations across seven clinical clusters, including the highest-volume AI citation in their vertical at 7,400 monthly searches.
03
Built Around Clinical Reality, Not Keyword Volume
The content strategy was anchored to what Reconnect actually treats: trauma, EMDR, sensorimotor psychotherapy, DID, complex PTSD. This is not a site that ranks for generic therapy terms. It ranks for the specific clinical searches that the people who need Reconnect's services are actually typing.
04
Built to Scale, Not Just to Launch
A lot of rebuilds solve today's problem and create next year's. Reconnect was built on custom post types specifically so the site grows with the practice. As they expand services, add modalities, or begin treating new populations, the structure absorbs the growth without breaking what is already ranking. That is what keeps 3x growth compounding instead of plateauing.
